Secretary Energy & Power Message

Nisar Ahmad

I am proud to introduce the Institute of Petroleum Technology (IPT) Karak, a new born technical institute, established with funding from Finance Division Government of Pakistan under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). The institute is aimed to develop mid-level professionals of technicians, drillers and fitters required for Oil and Gas sector and is located on Indus Highway Karak, close to the Oil & Gas production fields of District Karak and is easily accessible to the other Oil & Gas producing areas of Southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Southern Punjab, Baluchistan and Sindh.

The Institute will provide an environment of research, innovations and interlinking its faculty and students with the real time field operations of Oil & Gas sectors.

The courses to be offered by the IPT and its operational model would be structured in a manner that its outgoing students meet the market demand and contribute in the socio economic needs of the region.

Our dream is that the students completing their academic courses and training with IPT, would meet the challenges of modern technology for today and tomorrow. We are conscient of how big a task we entrust them, but we would not leave them alone and would ensure optimal usage of the available resources without compromising on quality.

The development agenda of both the federal Government of Pakistan and provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is focusing on technical skills development of the youth and the development of the Oil and Gas producing areas in particular. Therefore, Govt; of Pakistan has allocated funds of PKR, 2053 Million to the project and the Govt; of KP has provided 250 Kanal land for the Institute.

The Energy & Power Department is steering and facilitating the project “Establishment of Institute of Petroleum Technology Karak”. The project management team in coordination of stake holders and end users (students) of the institute is striving hard to make it a success story evident of the fact it has introduced 3-year Diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE) in Drilling and Drilling Fluids, for the first time in KP and has given admission to 41 students in the Academic Year (2022 – 23). IPT Karak is duly affiliated with KP Board of Technical & Commerce Education (BT&CE) Peshawar and KP Technical Trade Board (TTB) Peshawar.
